delivered at Mineral Resources

Cultural Awareness Training (CAT) by Robe River Services is delivered on behalf of the Robe River Kuruma (RRK) people to ensure safe and respectful engagement on Country. Designed for contractors, supervisors, and staff operating across mining and infrastructure projects, our accredited training builds essential cultural competency aligned with heritage protocols and community expectations.

Program Structure

  • 3 and 4-hour classroom-based training sessions
  • Delivered on-site at the Cultural Hub at Kens Bore and Osborne Park HQ
  • Open to Mineral Resources Ltd (MRL) employees and contractors
  • Mandatory for all MRL staff as part of Employee Performance Development Plans
  • Led by accredited Robe River Kuruma cultural facilitators

Delivery Schedule & Costing

Sessions are delivered across a 3-day model:

  • Day 1 (Monday): Travel to site, deliver afternoon session
  • Day 2 (Tuesday): Two sessions (AM + PM)
  • Day 3 (Wednesday): Morning session, then travel

Estimated cost: $3,200 per session;

Accommodation and meals provided by MRL

Partnership Responsibilities

MRL Responsibilities:

  • Book training rooms and manage participant enrolments
  • Provide secured cultural materials and training room access
  • Pre-approve training content; review annually with RRS
  • Provide feedback for continuous improvement
  • Cover travel, accommodation, and meals for facilitators

RRS Requirements:

  • Accredited RRK facilitators for all sessions
  • Max class size: 14-15 attendees
  • Post-training surveys for all participants
  • Content approved by RRKAC Heritage Advisory Committee

  • Welcome to Country: Ceremonial welcomes for projects and events
  • On-site Cultural Inductions: For short-term workers or contractors
  • Cultural Protocol Advice: Supporting respectful land engagement
